The Beatitudes – Part 7

Part 7 of 8 – A Bible Study on the Beatitudes in Matthew, Chapter 5

Blessed Is He Who Comes In The Name Of The Lord

A bible study of revelation and divine order that Jesus the Messiah taught when He spoke of the Blessings in His Sermon on the Mount.

Before we begin, grab your Bible (it is your tool). As we put the final touches on this house we are are building to offer unto the Lord, let us recap again the order thus far:

1. Poor and contrite spirit inherits the kingdom of heaven – Making the decision to come before the Lord and follow Him by committing our lives to Him and serve no other God. Be baptized and repent from our old ways. (In other words, bending down to Jesus)

2. Mourn and be comforted – Confess our sins, acknowledge that we are wretched and wicked without Jesus and that He alone is the way, the truth and life. Invite the Holy Spirit to rule and reign over our heart, mind, and soul, and bring comfort to us.

3. Be Meek and inherit the earth – Be submissive to the Word of God and wait patiently upon Him. Be teachable in the word of God. The Holy Spirit of Truth will lead you into revelation knowledge and what it means to walk in your spiritual birthright here on earth.

4. Hunger and thirst for righteousness and be filled – Be honest and have moral principles, walk in integrity, justice, fairness, and give all the glory and honor to God. For it is He who judges the hearts of man. Desire to know Jesus more than temporal things of this world. Ask Him to show you His ways and you will be filled with peace.

5. Be Merciful and obtain mercy – Make sure that that your heart does not carry any un-forgiveness. If you struggle in this area, cry out for the Holy Spirit to help you. When Jesus died on the cross, he cried out and said (about those who wanted him dead), “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

6. Be Pure in heart and see God – Stand on the Word of God – both the Rhema (spoken) and Logos (written) word. Do not waiver and be tossed to and fro with any other doctrines. Seek daily the righteousness of Jesus and walk in it. Do not be deceived or compromise your relationship with God the Father, God the Son, Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit at any cost. (this is idolatry and he does not share his glory with any other). Keep your hands clean and your thoughts and actions pure based upon Him and His word. Seek to honor the Father in all things.

Blessed are the Peacemakers for they shall be called the Sons of God.

What is a Peacemaker?

The Hebrew word for Peace is (Shalom) and means (Harmony, wholeness, completeness)

The Hebrew word for Son is (Ben) and means child. Benaiah means Son of Yah (One who builds up) What? How cool is that.

Isaiah 52:7

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

Blessed are the peacemakers (the ones who walk in wholeness), for they shall be called the Sons of God (ones who build up). What are we building? A holy tabernacle unto Yah and a place where He will dwell and bring us rest. What is He building? A royal priesthood, a holy nation unto Himself.

We are called to share the Good News of the Gospel of Peace. We are told in Ephesians 6 that part of the armor of God is to shod our feet in preparation of the Gospel of Peace. Jesus says to be at peace among ourselves. We can find a multitude of scriptures on peace. So why is this particular blessing in the order that it is?

Let’s look at some scriptures and determine the reason and the importance of this order and what it is Jesus wants His disciples to know and walk in.

Ephesians 4:1-3

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

James 3:17-18

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Let’s look below at some scriptures regarding sons of God (or children of God):

Romans 8:12

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Galatians 4:5-7

To redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Galatians 4:26

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized in Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

1 John 3:1-3

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.

I hope by now you can understand why there is an order to being called a Son of God and why Jesus first taught these on the Sermon on the Mount? When we build our house on the solid foundation of Jesus Christ, with Him as our Chief Cornerstone, the house can stand and be at rest. We must make our garments of righteousness ready in these times of trouble so we can share the good news of salvation and more importantly, to be invited to the wedding feast?

Let’s read the Beatitudes in Matthew, Chapter 5 again. When you read them this time, I encourage you to really look at the building blocks of the divine order. Scroll back to the top of this study at the recap of each Beatitude. It is KEY! So much of scripture appears to be a mystery and yet our Lord, Jesus Christ, always revealed the mystery in the Word.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Hallelujah! If you see an area of your life where you do not feel complete in your walk with Christ Jesus, I encourage you to take some time right now and pray (Do not wait another minute). Confess the areas of your life that you have not surrendered unto Him and repent. Cry out for the Holy Spirit to take away the things of the past and renew your mind. As children, most of us were never taught how to trust Jesus during times of trouble and trials and He, more than anyone, knows this. There is no shame or condemnation in what we did not know. It’s time to wake up and shake off the dust. Confess the sin and then tell Satan to get behind you. Take a stand for Christ in your heart, your life, and in your relationships. You will find peace and you will be able to stand strong and not be shaken in perilous times. This peace I refer to is the same peace that allows us to enter into His rest…the Sabbath Rest (Read Hebrews 4:1-13, with emphasis on vs. 9-10)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
