Spiritual Gifts

Romans 12:4-8

A Pillar In The House Of Yahweh

Romans 12:4-8 – 4For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Welcome and thank you for joining us in this disciple ‘ship’ series on Spiritual Gifts. This series is related to a previous post called “T.R.A.S.H. Talk, The Command To Build God’s House” and it is one of the seven pillars of which Wisdom has built her house and has hewn out her seven pillars (Proverbs 9:1). Click on above link to read the full blog post. For those of you new to this website, T.R.A.S.H. is an acronym for ‘Truly Redeemed And Sanctified In Him’.

If you are joining for the first time, below is a brief introduction as to why we believe it is important to share about the gifts. Please subscribe to the website to receive notifications on new posts/teachings.

Paul writes about the elementary doctrines (milk) and perfectional doctrines (solid food) of Yeshua HaMashiach in Hebrews 5:12-6:6. Teaching on the spiritual gifts will be better understood if you understand the foundational elementary doctrines (milk) which is a paramount pillar in the house of Yahweh. Click here.

The Spiritual Gifts series is designed to introduce you to the various ministry gifts that you read about in the Bible, specifically in Romans 12:4-8 (prophet, servant, teacher, exhorter, giver, ruler, mercy), Ephesians 4:11 (apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher), and 1 Corinthians 12:7-13 (word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healings, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, interpretation of tongues).

We call this the disciple ‘ship’ series because that is exactly what it is. It will take time and dedication on your part to learn, understand, and apply the gifts in your walk with Yeshua in the ministry He has given you.

Are you a minister of the gospel of Yeshua HaMashiach? Yes, you are! Does this mean you are suppose to stand at a pulpit and preach to a congregation each week? Probably not. The reality is that you are a minister of the gospel if you are a believer in Yeshua. It doesn’t matter if you go to school, are a stay at home parent, work for someone else, have your own business, or have been called into a specific type of ministry, every human being created by Yahweh has been created for the specific purpose for the salvation of mankind, destroying the works of the devil, and to worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

Whatever your life calling may be, as a Christian, you are called to be an ambassador of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) in all you do.

You were given a unique personality when you were born into this world which began to emerge as you grew. You are uniquely designed by our Heavenly Father with every good thing you need including spiritual gifts and they also should emerge and be used for His glory as you grow and mature in your walk with Him. He himself gives us spiritual gifts to help us fulfill His purpose for mankind. They are part of our spiritual DNA.

Today, we embark on the disciple ‘ship’ of the seven spiritual gifts spoken of in Romans 12:4-8. We like to call them the redemptive gifts because there is a redeeming quality in them for the edification of the body of Yeshua. Each of the seven gifts has a Godly principle, an essential virtue, and a blessing designed by Yahweh to accompany those who use the gifts for His Glory. They are an integral part of your spiritual growth from a babe desiring milk to solid food. Note that these seven spiritual gifts are not the same as the seven spirits of Yahweh spoken of in Isaiah 11:2 (Spirit of Yahweh, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, fear of the Lord). You can find a study on those here.

The awesome thing about these seven gifts is that they are gifts you were born with for everyday life and as you learn more about them, you will see how you have been walking in them all along to some degree.

What has happened over time is either we or someone in our bloodline have misused the gifts for man’s glory, the occult, rejected them altogether, or have mocked Yahweh and his purpose for them. Misuse of the gifts creates a root iniquity and places a demonic stronghold or curse over the person that can also affect the next generation. His word says His people suffer and are even destroyed from a lack of knowledge. We believe it has been the adversary’s plan from the beginning to keep the body of Yeshua in a state of ignorance (lack of knowledge) so as to not walk in the fullness of who we are in Yeshua HaMashiach. In Yeshua’s grace, we each have been given the opportunity to repent, renounce, and reject sin and iniquity in our life and ask for forgiveness and be forgiven.

For example, the gift of Prophet is the principle of design and the essential virtue is to be a Re-builder or to build one another up in who they are in Yeshua and how He has designed each individual unique and special. What has happened is we live in a world of ignorance about our design by Yahweh and we or our forefathers have come against the rights of individuals which has created fractured relationships. When we come against one another because we have not sought Yeshua and His love and wisdom on how to build one up, we bring a curse upon ourselves and even upon our children to the third and fourth generation because they learn the same behavior and continue it forward. Some of the obvious manifestations of the root iniquity are divorces, broken homes, broken relationships, and the general breakdown of the family structure that was originally design by Yahweh.

Understand that we don’t know everything; in fact, the more we walk in this journey, we realize the possibilities in Yeshua are limitless. We are always learning and we are hungry to receive all that Yeshua has to give. As you know, each day on this earth is a road that has not been traveled, but we are excited about where Yahweh is leading us. We serve an awesome God and each day is a miracle gift of life. We thank Yahweh (God) the Father, Yeshua (Jesus) the Son, and His Holy Spirit for this teaching. We thank Yahweh for you and we pray that you will be open and committed to receiving all that the Father has in store for you.

Objectives of the Teaching:

  • Know and understand which of the redemptive gifts are your dominant gifts and how the less dominate gifts can affect pursuing all God has for you;
  • Be able to identify the gifts in your family members, business partners/co-workers, and others;
  • Understand what is required for you to possess your God-given birthright;
  • Identify the spiritual barriers that are preventing you from fully possessing your birthright;
  • Pray against those spiritual barriers, so as to release the blessings;
  • Begin to possess your birthright and build a personal and spiritual legacy.

As you go through the gifts, understand that you have all seven gifts in your spiritual DNA, although you may have one or more dominate gifts. The goal is to ignite all seven and let their light shine. A pillar is built from the ground up, so as you begin with the gift of Prophet, you’ll learn that it is the foundation upon which the other gifts are built. If the foundation is not solid, the pillar can be shaken.

At the end of each teaching on the gift, there is a prayer of renunciation available for you to pray if you are serious about breaking off any curse that may have been invoked due to sin and/or ignorance, and releasing not only the activation of the gifts but blessings that have been held up. Yeshua wants you to walk in the spiritual gifts. He wants to pour out His spirit upon you for the purpose of that which you are designed to be and do for the kingdom of heaven here on earth.

We have taught hundreds of people about these gifts ranging from fifteen years old and up, and every adult who has been taught them has told us that if they had only known about the gifts and their purpose when they were younger, how different their lives would have been and how differently they would have raised their children to understand them. Youth have the opportunity to make good choices when they are taught the principle of each gift. As with all right or wrong choices in life, there is a cause and effect relationship that results depending on how they are used or misused. One will never know if or how they are misusing the gifts if they don’t understand the correct use of them.

It is our prayer and hope that you will go after these gifts with an open mind and pure heart to understand and seek the Holy Spirit of Truth to be your guide and your self-reflecting mirror. Whether or not you have believed in the gifts of the Spirit before now is immaterial at this moment in time. Now is the time to learn about them, understand them, and allow the Holy Spirit to bring healing to areas of your spirit, soul, and body so that you can begin to apply them in your life, home, workplace, school, ministry, etc.

Romans 12:1-16 – 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Serve God with Spiritual Gifts

3For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

Behave Like a Christian

9Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

When you read the above scripture and how the use of spiritual gifts are to be used for Yahweh’s glory, you will begin to see them mentioned all throughout the Bible. It’s like buying a new car and all of a sudden you see the same car everywhere you go, whereas prior to your acquisition of the car, you paid little to no attention to them. In Paul’s letter in Romans 12, you see his mention of the gifts, the fruit of the Spirit, and Beatitudes with the anchor words “in proportion to our faith, with diligence, cheerfulness, etc”. Paul is telling all believers to use the gifts given them for ministry. Nowhere does he say to ignore them, hide them under a bush, or reject them.

We recommend that you go through each gift slowly and take the time to open your Bible and read about the blessings and curses. Just as there are principles, essential virtues, and blessings to learn about, you must also be aware of the strongholds and curses that prevent one from walking in the gifts to their fullest.

Disclaimer: We understand there are denominations that will immediately defer to “Jesus took the curse from us.” This is incorrect theology and we encourage you to see the study on the Book of Galatians Chapter 3 here.

Galatians 3:10-14 (NKJV) – 10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”

13Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Below you will find PDF files to each of the seven gifts as well as the prayers of renunciation for each gift. There is also a chart of the gifts that will help you see the overall picture of the principles, strongholds, root iniquities, essential virtues, curses, and blessings. Because this is a discipleship series, it will be beneficial for you to go through the gift then read the Book attached to the blessing (ex. Hosea for prophet gift). You will have a clearer perspective of the blessing Yahweh wants to pour out upon you.

 Pray the renunciation prayers in faith. At anytime during the prayer, if the Holy Spirit reveals something for you to add, then by all means add it.  This is not a race so please take it slow and serious. Remember that this is discipleship for Yeshua. If you are not familiar with what discipleship is, read the post, Batten Down The Hatches Of The ‘-Shiphere.

The prayers are sample prayers and the idea is to cover the main points of the prayer as it relates to the gifts. Should you have any questions, please contact us. We are also available to teach on the gifts via zoom classes with small groups, so if you prefer a face to face teaching and have a small group that is interested in going through this teaching in it’s entirety, reach out to us to discuss. Enjoy these teachings and then go on to the other Spiritual Gifts teaching in Ephesians 4:11 and 1 to Corinthians 12:1-11.

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you, so you come short in no gift, eagerly waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 1:4-7)
